With the version 11g, Oracle introduced direct NFS. It uses Oracle-optimized internal NFS clients, delivering lower system overhead, greater scalability to each NAS head with no NIC bonding, built-in multi-path I/O and no need for managed switches.
However, HP EFS Clustered Gateway is currently the only scalable, highly available option when NAS is used as the storage architecture for Oracle. It supports both Oracle RAC and non-RAC options, delivering one unified storage pool to manage, on-line capacity growth and simplified model of storage provisioning. It provides multi-platform support and enables linear performance scaling up to 16 database nodes.
