Up in the Clouds or Down to Earth?

Andrew will help us all fly through the clouds into an understanding of exactly what is and isn't possible using some of these emerging ideas. How near is it? Will it really change the way in which all of our organisations use information? Most particularly, as an Oracle user, what should I be considering today, to make sure I am as ready as I possibly can be for tomorrow? Andrew will discuss the take-up of "cloud" around Europe by Oracle customers, and what Oracle itself is planning for both its products and its services. For some, this will be a chance to look into the future and plan the long term .... for others, it will help them with their operations today!

Andrew Sutherland

Andrew Sutherland is Senior Vice President of Middleware for Oracle Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA). He is responsible for growing market share for Oracle’s middleware business in the region.
In this role he develops business strategies and manages competence in Middleware across the region. He is also responsible for the interaction with product development teams. In addition, he manages a team of architects; business development managers and technical specialists whose role it is to assist customers make best use of their investments in Oracle’s technologies.
Dr Sutherland has over 20 years’ experience in emerging technologies and their application to business problems. In particular, his expertise is in the design of solutions incorporating multi-media, mobile and Internet technology. He has managed major projects in emerging technologies in the areas of Healthcare, Security Services, general office automation and logistics.
He is the holder of a BSc, PhD and MBA and is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
