DBA tips and tricks-redo log generation

Iako postoji mnoštvo članaka na temu redo log datoteka, uzroka i načina na koji se generiraju te kako utječu na performanse sustava općenito, razumijevanje njihova načina nastajanja i utjecaja generalno na performanse jedno je od temeljnih odrednica svake Oracle baze.
Ako imate Standby bazu, jedan od temeljnih postava njenog rada jest poznavanje archive logova na primarnoj strani.
Stoga ću pokazat kako odrediti sve što je jednom DBA potrebno znati:
- Tko generira logove trenutačno
- Zbirni pregled kada su nastali redo logovi, te koliko to iznosi u MB
- Koji segmenti su generirali redo logove
- Koji SQL je uzrok generiranja redo logova
I sve to na temelju živih primjera temeljenih na SQL skriptama.
Abstract:
Although there are many articles on the „Redo log files“ subject, cause of existence, how they generate, how they affect the system performance in general, understanding of how the emergence and impact on general performance, is one of the fundamental principle of any Oracle database.
If you have a standby database, one of the main exhibition of its work is the knowledge of the archive logs generation on the primary side.
Therefore, I will show how to determine what every DBA needs to know:
- Who generates the logs of the current moment?
- Summary of when they arise redo logs, and how it is in the MB.
- Which segments are generating redo logs?
- What SQL was causing redo log generation?
and all that on the basis of live examples based on SQL scripts.

Nakon prvih godina kada sam radio u HV-u, boravka u SR Njemačkoj, kao green card holder, povratkom u Hrvatsku intenzivno se bavim Oracle tehnologijama s naglaskom na DBA i APPS DBA uz programiranje PLSQL i Apex.
Dodatno djelujem kao sistem arhitekt gdje osmišljavam složenije cjeline kako bi implementacijom potrebnih tehnologija radile na zadovoljstvo korisnika.
