IT business consulting – priča u prvom licu

Ovo je predavanje o vlastitim iskustvima u području IT poslovnog savjetovanja. Kroz predavanje ću predstaviti svoj spoznajni proces – od otkrivanja tržišne niše, pa do iskustava nakon dvije godine provedene u ovom uskom području hrvatskog IT-a. Ukratko, fokus predavanja će biti na povećanju povrata investicije u Informacijske tehnologije.
Hardverski boom je na izdahu. IT industrija je čitav niz godina gomilala tone hardvera kojega u vrijeme današnje krize mnoge kompanije pokušavaju što efikasnije iskoristiti. Fokus se polako seli sa kutija na sadržaj tih kutija. IT industrija mora vratiti uloženi kapital, a povrat IT investicija je postao parametar kojeg mnogi korisnici očekuju unaprijed definiranog prije pokretanja projekata. U takvom okruženju uloga poslovnog savjetovanja u IT industriji postaje itekako relevantna. U ovom predavanju također ćemo se baviti vezama između poslovne strategije i IT projekta. Trud koji je potrebno uložiti u pripremu projekta kako bi smanjili rizik i povećali prihvaćanje krajnjih korisnika nije zanemariv iako ga često zaboravljamo. Također, baviti ćemo se i paradoksom produktivnosti nakon implementacije IT rješenja. Ovo predavanje nije priča granicama između IT-a i poslovanja, ovo je priča o poslovanju nezamislivom bez IT-a.

IT Business Consulting - a story in first person
Abstract:
This is a session about my own experience in IT business consulting. Throughout the session, I will reveal my own cognitive startup process – from realizing the market niche to the experiences after being in the entrepreneurial role for some time now. In brief, the main topic of the session is – how can we improve the returns on investments in IT.
Hardware boom has slowed down. IT industry in Croatia has been piling up a tons of hardware for last two decades. This hardware today, many company as trying to leverage in a most efficient manner. The focus is gradually shifting from the boxes to the actual content of the boxes. IT industry is forced to return the capital invested, and ROI has clearly become the parameter that many customers expect to be defined upfront – before any IT investments. In such environment, the role of IT business consulting becomes more and more relevant. In this session, we will cover the links between the business strategy and IT projects. The effort needed for serious project preparation in order to lower the risks and increase the end user adoption is significant. Sometimes, we just tend to forget about it. Productivity paradox is something that IT industry rarely mentions. However, it exists and we need to take tackle it proactively. This session won’t be describing the bordered between the business and IT – it is a story of business impossible without IT

Sven Marušić

Sven Marušić posjeduje godine iskustva u informacijskim tehnologijama i telekomunikacijskoj industriji. Obnašao je razne dužnosti, od razvoja softvera do prodaje usluga u telekom industriji, te na kraju IT menadžment. Radio je u Microsoftovom Europskom Proizvodnom razvojnom centru u Dublinu kao voditelj tima za razvoj softvera. U vremenu od 2004-2007 započeo je sa razvojem telekomunikacijske vertikale unutar Microsofta Hrvatska.
2007. godine je prihvatio novi izazov u karijeri i postao Izvršni direktor za informacijske i poslovne sustave u Hrvatskom Telekomu. Odgovoran za najveći IT odjel u Hrvatskoj, imao je priliku iskusiti realan poslovni pritisak i repozicioirati ulogu IT-a u poslovanju. Danas je na raspolaganju regionalnim tržištima, kako bi podijelio svoja iskustva kroz nezavisnu konzultantsku kompaniju InfoCumulus koju je osnovao 2010. godine. InfoCumulus je neovisna konzultantska tvrtka usmjerena na područje konvergencije telekomunikacija i IT industrije, te procese u odnosima s korisnicima.
Bio:
Sven Marušić has over 14 years of IT and telecom industry experience. He worked in many different roles, ranging from software development to telecom industry sales and IT management. He worked as software development team lead in Microsoft European Product Development Center in Dublin. In the period of 2004 to 2007 he has started a telecommunications industry vertical within Microsoft Croatia, covering both Croatian and some neighboring markets.
In 2007, he accepted a new challenge within the Croatian Telecom (a subsidiary of Deutche Telekom) and become the CIO of T-COM and T-Mobile Croatia. Being responsible for biggest IT in the country, Sven has experienced a real life CIO pressure. Now he is available for sharing his experience through an independent consulting company, InfoCumulus that he founded in 2010.
Sven holds a Master of Science degree in IT management, and a bachelor degree in electrical engineering (telecommunications). Bill Gates has praised his work within Microsoft in 2006, when he received a gold star award.
