Mjerenje skalabilnosti platforme za ORACLE RDBMS

U fazi planiranja i odabira platforme za Oracle bazu podataka vrlo je lako previdjeti činjenicu da sustav ne može postići maksimum performansi ukoliko sve komponente nisu međusobno uravnotežene. Diskovni sustav visokih performansi jedan je od najznačajnijih faktora za postizanje željenih performansi poslužitelja baze podataka. Da bi sustav mogao skalirati disk I/O operacije, prije svega je važno ustanoviti da odabrana platforma za Oracle bazu podataka može skalirati pristup SGA buffer cache strukturama (cache hits/misses). Kroz rad će biti prezentirano korištenje SLOB benchmark alata za mjerenje propusnosti sustava i testiranje latencije pristupa memoriji, uz komparaciju rezultata testova na Oracle 11g i Oracle 12c verziji baze podataka.


How to measure ORACLE platform Scalability
Abstract:
When planning for a new platform to run your Oracle database it is easy to underestimate the importance of a well balanced system for achieving maximum performance and scalability. High-performance disk subsystem is one of the foundation and pillars of database performance, but it is quintessential to assess that your platform of choice for Oracle database is able to scale SGA cache hits and cache misses before physical I/O. This paper provides an insight into the way
SGA cache scalability, system bandwidth and memory latency can be tested and measured with SLOB benchmark tool. Results of the tests performed on both Oracle 11g and Oracle 12c versions will be compared and analyzed.
